FPV Racing Drone Time Lapse Build – RCX 1707

I ordered a bunch of 3.5″ props by accident. Then the 1707 motor came out so I built a new one to see what it would be like. I only flew two and a half packs on it. It’s far quicker than any 3″ I’ve seen and flies well with a Yi/GoPro as well, but after flying it I was reminded how much I prefer torque over revs. So it’s up for sale.

Here is the unusually popular IG post on it: https://www.instagram.com/p/BHZSHOOALIR/

Here is the maiden and time lapse YouTube on it:

Note the quality build on this. All wires are high quality silicone. None of the frail plasticy wires that break easily.

Extra parts included:
– 2 spare RCX 1707 3200kv motors
– 8 sets of DAL 3.5×4.5x3BN props
– Spare frame top plate…not like you’re gonna break it however

Parts:
(all parts are 100% new unless otherwise stated)
– RCX 1707 3200kv
– DAL 3.5×4.5x3BN props
– LittleBee Pro 4 in 1 ESC – 14.4 MS
– Foxeer SP F3 – BF 2.9
– X4r – SBUS, wired with 22awg silicone wire
– A2 voltage telemetry added to receiver, 22awg silicone wire
– FX795T-2 5.8ghz Vtx – 25mw/200mw – haven’t cut the 25mw wire even
( Vtx is an unbranded version of the Lumenier TX5G2R)
– HS1177 – 2.8mm lens – The only 1 quad old part, ran out of new ones, works great.
– 153mm, 2mm thick durable box frame with 2mm top plate
– Two layers of thin then thick CA applied to edges
– Upgraded TPU printed FPV camera mount – VERY sturdy
– All straps and everything seen is included
– Sorry I ran out of the good VTx antennas…

$275 shipped free within USA
That’s about 20% (~$50) less than if you were to buy all the parts and build it yourself. Plus free shipping.

Performance is vastly improved over 1407 motors. Especially with an HD cam on board. Power to weight ratio is about 8:1 without an HD cam. Still however a lower powered 5″ or larger prop craft has far more bite into the air. This little one gets moving really quick when it builds up however.

These small high Kv motors are not ideal and all run very hot because there is no way they can reach anywhere near the RPM they’ve been would to produce.

It’s alright but just not my cup of tea. I’ve now attempted to pack the power of a 5″ craft into something smaller four times. I built this one day ago and only flew three packs on it but it’s going up for sale tomorrow. Though fast, I really have little interest in flying it. Better someone else make use of it…
